Last month I was jumping out of my skin! I was just chilling out, killing some time and doing a bit of casual bird watching. While scanning around Main dam I saw a bird I had never seen before. After cross referencing a fair amount, I confirmed it as an African Snipe! Being a really good bird sighting in this area, I tried my best to get a photo, but it was frustratingly just too far away. “Oh well“ I thought, a confirmed sighting, good enough.
Every time after that, whenever I was at Main dam, I would
have a look. But still no luck. That was until a few days ago. On the morning
safari I took my guests to Main dam to look for Crocodiles. We stopped at my
favourite spot. Beautiful light and Croc’s sunning themselves. Just what we
wanted.
So the customary scanning started. First check the same sand
bank that I had seen it before. No. Have a look around. Nothing. Then something
caught my eye. About 30 meters away, on the nearest bank, there it was. No,
there they were! A pair! I couldn’t believe my luck and even better, it was within
camera range. Already camera in hand, I started the shooting. Now it’s not magazine quality, but far more than just evidence. Unfortunately I
had only about half a minute before they took off and flew to a small island in
the middle of the dam.
I had a look at the results and was pleasantly surprised. Better than what I had hoped for!
AWESOME BIRD SIGHTING + AWESOME CAMERA = AWESOME RESULTS + VERY
HAPPY GUIDE!!!
